PSA Ad

In this project I used the placing of images, and the look of the text to make an impact on this compelling poster assignment. I chose to focus my project on the prevention of drug use and I talked a little about what it does to you by being very blunt, and then making people feel guilty (if they are users). I chose to place the image in the background and then the caption I wrote on top I chose to change the opacity of it to sort of show how things are fading away. I stuck with the dark colors because it is a power ad and it has to do with something that is very grim. In the caption I wrote about all the things that you can lose when you do drugs and I thought it was appropriate to make it look as if it was fading away. I made it readable by keeping things in order and doing it chronologically. I stated what you can lose first then the effects about losing a friend from a photo. That then turned into why the reader of this poster themselves would want to throw that all away. It makes them feel guilty about it. Then at the bottom I put the address of College of Charleston’s Counseling and Substance abuse services. The caption I wrote at the top brings light and awareness to what drugs can really do. People never really think about the long run and what can happen so what I wrote give the cold hard facts about what they can do. I hope that it changes attitudes when people read it because it hits pretty close to home. I stimulated action by giving the location of where help can be found and saying that you can come meet with someone and talk about what is happening and going wrong.
